Oh, I thought that was the same?

Should have paid more attention to the moonshine exhibition I went to in North Carolina.

Rona,

When you introduced me to the lore of usquebaugh I learned that poteen is "whiskey" unlike the real stuff which is "whisky"!

Now I know what leadless solder is for.......

I guess I should take moonshine off the conference beverage list.

So you don't believe people should be given the information and allowed to make their own decisions?!

Not when they can come back and sue your pants off.

Gosh, could they do that? In USA, if you said "drinking moonshine causes death by lead poisoning" and you had some around and a consenting adult drunk it and got lead poisoning, they could sue you? I'm trying to get my head round that... Wouldn't that logically mean that someone who drove a car too fast and crashed could sue the car seller for providing the car, even though the driver knew it wasn't safe to treat in that way? My mind is being boggled.

Like the person that sued McDonald's because they spilled their hot coffee on their lap.

The coffee was too hot ( what ever that means )

Sued for damages ( unable to preform their marital duties )

Not being a smoker, I never paid much attention, but my understanding was that the tobacco companies can't be sued now because they give warnings of the hazards, whereas they didn't before so folk smoked without knowing the dangers?

As for the coffee episode, no one I knew believed it at first - we all thought it was an April Fool's joke. I still think that was a complete and utter travesty of the justice system. Though, as you point out, the person won.

OK, Rebecca, take the moonshine off the list...

Maybe we could have people sign a disclaimer before bringing the moonshine out?

"Maybe we could have people sign a disclaimer before bringing the moonshine out?"

Fizz - ever one to poop a party - says just get it from a reputable source - it's the illegally distilled stuff that has the contaminants.

Isn't moonshine by definition illegally distilled?  I would only use a reputable moonshine source; but all are illegal.  Fizz is confusing me!

We bought moonshine in a bona fide shop in your neck of the woods - http://moonshine.com/verify_me?return_to=%2F

This isn't the brand we bought - can't remember what it was. Bit rough - took us a long time to work our way through it...

So if they aren't moonshine, because moonshine is illegal, then they would break European rules on trade description, but not apparently here. You're not the only confused one!
