This is an auction house I buy from in Cleveland Ohio . They are reputable.

Look at item # 350 it is a pair of framed minature mosaics. I went to the pre show and touched these pcs they were very unique. I could not tell if it was glass (I don't think so) This on line auction ends over the next three day . So if your interested in bidding on anything get your paddle number and bid soon. Good Luck

Believe it or not, they are made from glass, or rather a vitreous product.

Each little piece that you saw that made up the entire design is a real little piece.

The "glass" is about 1/16" to 1/8" +- thick and comes in a width of about 1/4" and about 6" long.

It is rather easy to cut but for me, very hard to hold on to the extremely small pieces.

Each small piece is called a tesserae.

Set into a mastic adhesive, the final product is sometimes ground down and polished to make it look almost like a photo.

The Vatican Studio, located in Rome Italy, is one of the worlds best in the making of, you guested it, Micro Mosaics. These are also a very popular item made in Florence, Italy.

Here's a suggestion, go back and try and count the number of pieces. My guess it could be over 5000 for each picture.

The price of $15,000 is a fair retail price given their detail and age.

Mike and all viewers  - you can click on the  item # and then it will take you to close ups - the faces were fantastic when I looked at them up close. They actually looked like small pebbles or seeds the mosaic was so small.

# 1108 in same auction is a tiffany bowl and it is signed
