For General Release:

The Board of Directors of the AGG is pleased to announce that the Board has elected its first slate of officers.  All officers shall serve until the second Board meeting of the 2009 AGG Annual Conference. Arthur Femenella of Annandale, NJ is President; Mary Clerkin Higgins of New York, NY is Vice-President; Cynthia Williams of Washington, DC is the Secretary and Barbara Krueger of Hartland, MI is the Treasurer. The five directors are: Michael Mezalick of Philadelphia, PA; John Raynal of Natural Bridge Station, VA; Vic Rothman of Bronxville, NY; Maria Serpentino of Needham, MA; and E. Scott Taylor of Richmond, VA.  At the 2009 Annual Conference, five directors will be elected by the General Membership and the four officers will be elected by the Board.  All current officers and directors will be eligible for re-election.   The first set of bylaws for the AGG has been approved by the Board and will be posted to the website and discussion board in the near future.

The Board is continuing the process of setting up committees that will be providing important assistance to the Board towards the work of running the organization.  We appeal to all members that may have an interest in serving on a committee to contact us at  info@americanglassguild.org .  Our current standing committees are: Bylaws, Conference, Education, Finance, Long-Range Planning, Scholarship, Membership, and Nominating.  There will be sub-committees as well such as: Auction, Program, Exhibition, Tour, Public Relations, Speaker Liaison, Strategic Alliance, New Work, Conservation, etc.  Please let us know on what committees you wish to serve with a method of contacting you.

The AGG is looking forward to an exciting year in which we will bring the organization to the next level.  We are in conversations with a number of like groups regarding strategic alliances.  The Board extends an open invitation to those that are not presently members to join.  To our present members,  we invite you to become more active in the organization.   We hope to see you at our 3rd Annual Conference outside of Philadelphia August 1-5 of 2008.

Sincerely,

Arthur Femenella, President

American Glass Guild
