I just recently releaded some art deco doors. Maybe French They were signed, but I can't quite read the name. Does any one recognise this?

It's from Germany. It looks like an address I get on a Christmas card each year.

Hallie, is the inscription painted/fired on, or etched, and then black paint rubbed into the lines?  Thanks.

I am not so sure about it being German anymore.

I had a friend look at it and he could not make anything out of it.

I played in my dictionary for a while, though it is tough not actually knowing what the letters are, and I could not make the connections I thought I recognized.

Good Luck!

Dutch? I only ask as it looks like Ged. something at the bottom, and I had a Dutch friend called Ged, which is short for Gerard in Holland...

I also wondered if the top bit said ATEL, short for Atelier?

It looks like it says "Voldersgracht" and there is a Voldersgracht (Street) in Delft, The Netherlands.  I tried various forms of street, avenue, district, etc. to see what the abbreviation before it might be, but didn't come up with anything plausible and I don't know the language.  The first line could be ATEL for atelier, and at the end it looks like "malerei", as in glasmalerei, but that's just a guess.  There's someone in the Netherlands who publishes a stained glass magazine, I believe.  Maybe you can contact her.   Best, Mary

HAARLEM
Ged. Voldersgracht.

It is definitly Dutch, and there is a "Gedempte Voltersgracht" in Haarlem in the
Netherlands.
