A Michigan residence for retired Catholic nuns has 1931-1943 correspondence with Mayer of Munich, and then Mayer of Chicago regarding the stained glass for their chapel. Their first delivery of windows came from Germany. The second order could not be fabricated in Germany due to the war and were fabricated in the New York office of Mayer by Nicholas Wagner. I found another church, St. Timothy Episcopal Columbia SC wth German made windows installed by Nicholas Wagner and dedicated Jan 1959.
The architect was not pleased with the glass color of the American made windows, compared with the windows directly from Germany, but the letters were written to Karl Heckert, of the Chicago office of Mayer of Munich.
Bob JOnes bio index has Nicholas Wagner in NYC 1945-1952, also a
Wagner Studios in NYC active 1930s, but don't know if it is the same firm.
Would welcome any additional information
