An old Unitarian church in Detroit, empty for a dozen years, suffered a fire over the weekend. This church was the original home for a set of La Farge windows, that early reports seemed to indicate BARELY made it out of the fire safely....when in fact they were donated to the Detroit Institute of Arts about 1960, stored in the basement for about 20 years, "re-discovered" and then restored by Mary Clerkin Higgins.

Also originally in the church was a single La Farge window sold thru a Detroit auction house to private owners (I have a photo when it was on display), and then more recently sold/donated to Yale University Art Gallery
